Member for Oxley ![]() Andrew Stoner was first elected into Parliament as the Nationals Member for Oxley on March 27 1999 and was elected Leader of the NSW Nationals in March 2003. Andrew holds the Shadow Ministerial positions of Roads and Ports, and State and Regional Development. Described as having ‘a gentle nature that is legendary in the cut and thrust of politics’, Andrew Stoner is part of a new wave of young and passionate political leaders. Andrew was born in 1960, growing up in Brisbane before moving with his family to Grafton. A keen surfer and committed father of six, Andrew and his wife Cathy are proud residents of Wauchope on the NSW North Coast. Andrew believes in the importance of family and a fair go for all. As Leader of the NSW Nationals, Andrew is dedicated to bringing common sense back into how our State is governed. He is the proud leader of the only party that was formed solely to represent people living outside the major cities. Prior to entering Parliament Andrew obtained a Bachelor of Business and a master in Business Administration, and has also worked as an employment agency manager. Andrew’s commitment in his community has been exemplified through his involvement in community organizations such as Rotary, Lions, Chambers of Commerce and his church. During his time in Parliament, Andrew Stoner has been given responsibility in serving several high profile ministerial portfolios, including Shadow Minister for Education, Skills Development, Emergency Services, Sport and Recreation, Natural Resources,Energy and Utilities, Utilities, Road Infrastructure and Water Utilities as well as the Nationals Deputy Whip. In December 2008, Andrew took over responsibility for the Shadow Roads and Ports, and State and Regional Development portfolios, which he remains currently responsibly for. In the lead up to the 2011 State Election Andrew will be working hard to do country and coastal NSW proud and ensure Nathan Rees receives the clear message that NSW deserves better. About the Oxley electorate Located on the mid north coast, Oxley Electorate covers 10,128.4 sq km and has a predicted elector quota of 47,116 voters at the 2007 Election. Major towns include Bellingen,Crescent Head, Dorrigo, Gladstone, Kempsey, Macksville, Nambucca Heads, ScottsHead, South West Rocks and Wauchope. Contact
