Member for Tweed ![]() He is very much a hands-on MP; regularly accompanying emergency services workers on their shifts in order to fully understand their needs and concerns. In Parliament he is known as “Mr 100% for Tweed”, because of his fierce advocacy for his electorate. He is a strong champion of key local issues including the Tweed Hospital, rail services, the Pacific Highway, higher police numbers and education. Some of his initiatives since being elected include a campaign to deliver cancer treatment services to the Tweed, and planning an accommodation support facility for the Tweed’s growing number of young homeless people. Prior to his election, Geoff ran his own consultancy business, and before that he was the long-term general manager of the Tweed Heads Bowls Club – the largest bowls club in the southern hemisphere. He has also chaired the Regional Salvation Army Red Shield Appeal, the Regional Clean-Up Australia Day Committee, Tweed Tourism and Tweed Neighbourhood Watch. He was received numerous awards including the Premier’s Award and Tweed Shire Council Citizen of the Year. About the Tweed electorate Located in the Tweed Valley, the Tweed Electorate covers 1,260.49 sq km and has a predicted electorquota of 47,416 voters at the 2007 Election.
