Shadow Minister for Natural Resource Management

As a strong advocate for rural NSW, Katrina has extensive experience in representing a large rural electorate through representing the electorate of Burrinjuck for more than ten years.

Prior to entering parliament, Katrina gained extensive understanding of local needs and her community as an owner and operator of ‘The Sheep’s Back’ in Yass and Bowral from 1989-97, and working as a TAFE Instructor in Yass and Queanbeyan from 1989-91.

Katrina remains highly active and engaged with her community, currently serving as the patron of many community groups and associations, including the South West Slopes Chapter of the National Serviceman’s Association, various Agricultural Show Societies and also through her involvement with public primary schools.

Since being elected to Parliament, Katrina Hodgkinson has used the experiences gained from her Burrinjuck electorate and has taken on board abroad range of parliamentary duties and esteemed portfolios which have included serving as Shadow Minister for Small Business and Shadow Minister for Fair Trading, Shadow Minister for Rural Affairs, Shadow Ministerfor Tourism and Shadow Minister for Major Events, Shadow Minister for Community Services and was appointed as Shadow Minister for Natural Resource Management in 2009.  Katrina was also a Member of the NSW Parliamentary Public Accounts Committee between 1999-2003.

Katrina upholds a strong sense of family and is married with two children and lives at Yass, in the heart of the Burrinjuck Electorate.

Stretching from the Southern Highlands to the Eastern Riverina, Burrinjuck covers 24,849.42 sq km and has a predicted elector quota of 48,158 voters at the 2007 Election.

Major towns in Burrinjuck include Bethungra, Boorowa, Caragabal, Collector, Cootamundra, Cowra, Crookwell, Grenfell, Gundagai, Gunning, Harden, Murrumbateman, Stockingbingal, Yass and Young.
