Member for Murrumbidgee ![]() Adrian Piccoli was first elected into Parliament as the Member for Murrumbidgee on 27 March 1999 and has been a member of the National Party since 1994. Since 2008 Adrian has held the position of Deputy Leader of The Nationals. Prior to entering Parliament, Adrian graduated from the Australian National University in Canberra with a Bachelor of Economics and Bachelor of Law in 1993. Adrian has a commanding interest in the plight of the residents in his electorate, as he was both a solicitor and farmer from 1994 -1997, and knows first-hand the demands of living and working under State Labor Governments. During his time in Parliament, Adrian Piccoli has held several esteemed portfolios including his previous roles in Shadow Ministerial portfolios of Mineral Resources, Lands and Natural Resources, as well as serving as the Shadow Minister Assisting the Leader for Natural Resources (Forests) and Ethnic Affairs. He was also appointed to the Standing Committee of Public Works and the Parliamentary Library Committee in June 1999. With Adrian's history of getting on with the job at hand, he was appointed as the Shadow Minister for Water, State and Regional Development, as well as Shadow Leader of the House in April 2007.Adrian continues to be the Nationals' Spokesman on Firearms. In late 2008, Adrian was given responsibility for the Shadow Education, Skills and Youth Affairs portfolios. Adrian is highly passionate and committed to making sure that the voice of regional residents living outside of the major cities is heard. Adrian is particularly interested in the areas of providing good quality education for our kids, maintaining a strong skilled workforce, helping NSW families struggling with the cost of living, supporting front line service workers,upgrading roads, hospitals and schools, supporting our farmers during the worst drought in living memory, and encouraging strong Government investment in small business, the backbone of the NSW economy. Adrian is a member of Sporting Shooters and in his free time Adrian is an avid cyclist and rugby union supporter. Born and bred in Griffith in 1970, Adrian is married to Sonia, and in April 2008 they welcomed their first child. About the Murrumbidgee electorate Located in the Riverina,the Murrumbidgee Electorate covers 28,459.96 sq km and has a predicted elector quota of 49,117 voters at the 2007 Election. Major towns include Barellan, Coleambally, Coolamon, Condobolin, Griffith, Junee, Lake Cargelligo, Leeton, Narrandera, Rankins Springs, Temora and West Wyalong. Contact
